Carbon Rod : Creating The TextureBefore we can start on our rod, we need to make a nice texture for it. Below are a few simple steps on how to create that texture and add it to Photoshop's patterns presets. 1. First, we'll need to make the pattern for the texture we're going to have on our rod. To do this, open a new file, 2x2px. 2. Let's zoom in on it so we can see what we're doing. 3. Fill the image with black (alt+backspace). 3. Now click on your foreground color over on the tools pallet and select the color with the RGB values of R89 G89 B89. 4. With your pencil set to 1px, paint the top left and bottom right pixel with this color, effectively making a checkerboard pattern. 5. Now, select all (ctrl+a) and go to Edit - Define Pattern. - Call it "Carbon" and select Ok. 6. You can close this image, no need to save it. We won't be needing it anymore.
