Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell : The Game Itself
Originally a spy-thriller by the acclaimed author Tom Clancy, UbiSoft is working its gaming magic once again.
Set for PC release on January 23, Splinter Cell is one of the most innovative new games of its kind. Stunning graphics and ultra-realistic environments are complimented with incredible sound effects. Rather than running around aimlessly at the sound of a gunshot like in many other games of this genre, the artificial intelligence is awe-inspiring. The progression of the main character, Sam Fisher (a master of espionage), is based on stealth techniques. This requires an unusual amount of thinking, planning, and "cleaning up" on the player's part. The slightest creak in a floor, a neglected corpse, or misplaced footstep will draw the attention of an enemy.
Besides the heart pumping missions and selection of various spy tools, the realism of Splinter Cell is a step above the rest. From shadows to shattering glass, all the way to chucking empty soda cans at guards, every aspect is perfectly orchestrated. The stealth environment also involves the utilization of gadgets, such as night vision, thermal imaging, and decryption devices.
