Fountaintheater - 232 Early Spring by Unbeltedsundew

Map Description:

I havent really had the focus to plan the and start the other half of the fortress yet, but I got most of the infrastructure functioning, or at least a state in which I can get it functioning.

Unfortunately year 231 was esspecailly bad. My founding engraver and hero decided to run out into the middle of a seige and get himself killed no matter how i tried to get him to stop. Well, hes a dwarf so I dont feel that bad, they mostly deserve it.

Anyways this started a slow tantrum spiral that lasted the whole year and eventually took almost every worth while dwarf with it leaving me cripples, children and soldiers. About 60 to 70 dwarfs were lost, amoung them the last 3 of my founders. My hero hammer Founder was killed breaking a seige that had at least two groups of bow goblins.

Needless to say I've been slowed down. I have 44 dwarfs, 13 of them are military, 9 are children (forsaken little beasties), and 3 or so are bedridden, and I've got one noble left. Leaving me roughly 18 or 19 usefull dwarfs, alot of them noobs, trying to do the jobs in a fort that was operateing with 110 well trained dwarfs.

Not to mention that tantrums took out some of my bridges and Im forced to use the back door again.

Point of Interest: VIP Entrance

I started planning the main entrance to my fort, that bit that curls around to the left is going to house my balistas and ammo. - Unbeltedsundew

Nice fort.
Which tile set is that?

Thank you.

Its my own tile set that I'm working on to fill my hankering for a high resolution set, which doesn't bother me and still relates back to the original in acceptable ways, and in which I dont have to replace accents, and that isn't as ugly as hell. Its 20x20 but not ready for release yet.

The tileset is nice, though a bit hard for me to decipher. Are those workshops above the magma?

Sorry to hear about the rotten luck this year. Losing so many dwarves would have broken me, I am sure.

Yeah, the set is far enough away from the original that it takes some getting used to, the floors and the wall pillars the "O" ones are hard to seperate visualy. Also, while the fancy floors are nice they are also fairly dominant.

There are three magma smelters to the left and three magma forges to the right.

Nice tileset, especially the barrels ^_^

Nice looking fort as well, shame about the towercaps though. The library is a nice idea, though I can't help but think it will generate pointless 'check chest' jobs (Unless those are just containers and not cabinets).

The cat trap is a nice idea, and I remember seeing a similar one somewhere else, let me see if I can find it... Ah, here we go: http://mkv25.net/dfma/poi-7877

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-01/unbeltedsundew-Fountaintheater-region3-232-1698.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
