Wealthscastle - 215 Mid Summer by timmeh

Map Description:

Parts of the fortress have been smoothed/engraved, new farm was built, food storage expanded, and work was started on the "Burial Hive".

Journal Entry

Point of Interest: Burial Hive Entrance

The entrance to the newly dug "Burial Hive". Not nearly completed yet. - timmeh

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

Afraid of goblins, the local wildlife, or what? Unprovoked dragon attacks? Mass cave-ins? Starvation?

Hm. you have a good point. This game rivals NetHack for the number of causes of death you can carve on headstones.

To be honest, in-fighting. I've lost two previous forts to tantrums and general dwarf-on-dwarf violence. Although given the size of the first immigrant wave, starvation may rear its ugly head soon.....

Have you considered making a decent-sized (6 by 6?) dining room in rock? Regardless of the quality of tables and chairs, wallpapering the room with engravings tends to send it close to legendary, which helps avoid terminal cases of depression a little.

For some reason, I'm getting the "Ate in a Legendary Dining Room" thought already. I'm thinking it's the shear size.

Could be, yeah.
All in all, they're a bit easy to get 'legendary', but it helps stave off rioting and general mayhem.

timmeh, would an embedded map be useful for your journal - so you can put maps and points of interest directly onto your site?

...

Might be useful elsewhere.

It would, although this fortress has gone down the tubes. I would love to have an imbedded map for future journals, how would I do that?

You can download the compressed map file: 2008-12/timmeh-Wealthscastle-Malachite28-Y2.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
