The thought-to-be-safe fortress of Berilral, a couple of weeks after a brutal giant bat attack. The giant bat in question managed to slaughter a horrendous amount of the unprepared dwarves (including a few custom named ones) before being choked by one of my fresh recruits. The population of the fortress dropped by almost one fourth as the result of the dreaded bat's constant guarilla warfare. At this point I had had enough of the seemingly invulnerable bugger and in desperation drafted all my dwarves, telling them to pile up on the terrifying creature, hoping the bearded mass would at least manage to kill it from over-extertion if from nothing else.
The results: 1 for dwarves, more than a dozen for the giant bat.
My current housing plan. A large pit with less impressive (and expensive) quarters on the upper levels, growing in size and quality each level you go down. The lavish houses of the nobles are to be located at the very bottom. - Jusal
