Skywater - 155 Mid Summer by Greiger

Map Description:

A modded fortress. The "D"s are the fortress race. Dracon. Bipedal winged reptiles.
the red "s"es are their version of a dog. Saurians, identical to dogs with higher heat tolerance. The fortress race is carnivorous farms are for booze only.

This fortress is an example of an older fortress (6 years) where there were big plans but most failed spectacularly.

Population is 110 Dracon. 15 Crossbow users, 6 Swordsmen, 5 Axemen, and 4 dabbling hammerers.

Point of Interest: The residential Sections

As the Dracon prefer shallow caves to the deep lightness caverns of Dwarves, more space was needed to allow windows in all highly populated areas of the fortress.

This caused the residential bridge to be built. It is an enclosed bridge suspended over the river, built to keep out any of the common flying monsters common on the world. The enclosed nature was quickly rendered moot however when many breaches had to be made in the walls to allow emergency drainage of many areas of the fortress during many of the aquifer related design blunders in the fortress' history.

As Dracon prefer shallow caves or surface living to the deep caverns of the dwarves windows are commonplace. Only the barracks and arena (built after the skyarena tragedy) lack windows. - Greiger

Δ 21. Main (North) Gate
The north gate. Like all the gates it is guarded by 2 war saurians on chains, and a single layer of traps with a single large serrated green glass disk inside each trap.. Plans were made for a more impenetrable trap setup, but the military protested, stating that they would have "Nothing to do" - Greiger
Δ 21. Sky arena remains
The remains of a floating arena construction. The arena was built 4 stories tall and with a massive retracting bridge as the arena floor. However during the scaffolding removal a critical error was made, plunging the entire construction, and all workers inside, far below to a watery doom. the rubble is hidden from view. - Greiger
Δ 18. Workshop level
Built in the traditional 6x6 grid design is the workshop level. It is inefficient as there is little to no storage space for the finished goods. Plans were made for storage areas to the east. But was foiled by a rather oddly behaving vertical aquifer. - Greiger
Δ 17. Happy fun hall
A simple statue garden with a waterfall. The waterfall was an unintentional side effect of breaching the aquifer in an expansion when the depth of the aquafer was underestimated. Due to this the hall spent a good year and a half submerged under 7 feet of water before it was finally drained, creating the waterfall. the waterfall makes the perpetually partying residents happy.

The waterfall also serves as a dumping pit. As the waterfall conveniently pushes refuse into the river as the aquifer continuously pumps out an endless supply of water.. - Greiger
