Pagebend - 303 Early Spring by Dorten

Map Description:

Bad: I still don't have anvil for armor and weapons, and ambushers will likely apperar soon.

Bad: No access to humans.

Good: Cave river is found!I just started exploratory shafts at the map edges, hoping, that it was crossing the border. It really was.

Point of Interest: Irrigation channel

( 303 Early Spring → onwards )

Two levels above you can see the preparations for cave river diverting. - Dorten

Look on your stocks screen for any water creature corpses/remains or bones. If you find any, zoom to them, and then dig to that location. (from above :))

The only thing I found on Stocks screen was Giant rat bones and skull. I dug there and found a bottomless pit. I didn't asked for it in finder, so that's a bonus.

Te better bonus: there's a GCS webs in the pit!

But the river I didn't find :(

Style trumps efficiency every time. Besides its not like your hauling the stone, and your dwarfs will be content in the fact that they look good well doing so.

Looking forward to see how it turns out.

Well the plan is: Clear glass walls and doors. Green glass floors and furniture for commoners and clear glass one for nobility.

Outside castle of diorite blocks (just for difference).

HOW TO FIND THE FREAKING RIVER!!!???!!1ONE

You're going to have a ton of trees if all the levels are that big. Since you have magma, is there any particular reason you want that many?

(does anyone know if elves get annoyed by clearcutting towercaps?)

I like the honeycomb, that's cool. Hard work finding a proper tessellatifying design.

I certainly hope those passages are wide enough for multiple dwarves to get by;

"Op! pardon me lad!"
*splork*
"Ooh... looks like I'll get to cleaning after I sleep off this guilt."

Now *thats* what i call a treefarm!

The tileset you're using for the diagonal corners actually looks really great - I think I'm going to try this and see how it plays out in my forts.

Good work so far, the whole place is gleaming.

I'm a big fan of the greenhouse. Well done.

RE Map compressor fails ... any idea what those tiles looked like? It is very strange that the compressor is blanking them.

Note: Tombs... you seal them in? x.x

Submitted by: Dorten - 2008-12-02 to 311 Early Spring

Tile were standard random terrain. Gray ones, some were pluses (built)

Yep I seal them, why not?

Submitted by: Markavian - 2008-12-02 to 311 Early Spring

Sealing them in seemed a bit extreme, are you worried they're going to turn into zombies and haunt your fortress?

Submitted by: Bitzeralisis - 2008-12-02 to 311 Early Spring

Those designs are awesome. Very hexagonal.

Submitted by: Dorten - 2008-12-02 to 311 Early Spring

I seal graves only after the bodies rot, rise as a skeletons, see the mess, die from the shock and are put back into coffins. So I'm not afraid of them rising. I just don't want the dogs feasting on their bones.

How is that Magma tower filling up?

Submitted by: Dorten - 2008-12-19 to 311 Mid Winter

It fills from the bottom with magma pressurised via pump-tower

Submitted by: Markavian - 2009-02-06 to 313 Early Spring

Wait... how the hell did you build the green glass tower inside the magma vent, I don't understand how you've done that.

Submitted by: Duke - 2009-02-06 to 313 Early Spring

Not in the magma pipe, it's in the pit! He has gone and filled the bottomless pit with magma!

Actually, this gives me an idea...

Project Magma Crack is a go!

It seems you have changed your tileset (For the better.) Could I please have a link to it? It looks wonderful...

Submitted by: Jebraltix - 2009-02-06 to 313 Early Spring

The barrels look like honeycombs too.
