After learning the massive tree farm in Ringcloister was built in vain (there's apparently a hard limit of 200 growing tower-caps), I abandoned the fort permanently. So I tossed the massive farm idea aside and started something else. I kept a few ideas, like the outdoor wall and automatic irrigation system. And yes, I'm still a no-good cheater. :P
I present to you: Doorholes.
The image from the first year is cut short since I hadn't yet discovered the cave river, so I discarded it. I neglected to save during the next two years, so those are lost. However, I did record the beginning and end of the fourth year.
I decided to try something a little different with my grand dining hall this time around. I added some waterfalls for the pleasure of my cavemen.
Sometime in the future I'll have to abandon and reclaim the fortress for some of my terraforming to kick in properly. This includes the waterfalls (which don't produce mist or happy thoughts), the modified river (that large swath of limestone is still used for fishing and drinking, and any tiles I place go unused), etc.
I think it also affects whether or not magma is hot. I recall nuking the world in a previous fort using a magma pool only to find it didn't burn anything. I never reclaimed that fort, but I assume that would've fixed it. - Anxiety

D'oh! By not discovering the cave river I meant not discovering the chasm.

Whoa, is that rewall you used to get the outside walls? The end result looks nice. You can change ponds into rivers (O_o)? The numerous errors could be the "terraforming", yes, but reclaiming might solve it as you suggested. It's absolutely amazing though, even if you can't see past the chasm...
