Arrowpoint - 1061 Early Summer by CSFF

Map Description:

Arrowpoint is doing pretty well these days. There's been no major riots lately, and the dwarves seem to be pretty content with the way the place is run (which is quite unusual). Economy kicked in, and thankfully a diverse array of different rooms is available, so that poor and rich dwarves alike have places to rent.

I feel that there isn't much left to do underground - population is still below the cap, but it is unlikely it will ever expand to the point where radical expansion of the industry and residential arrangements will have to follow. So, instead, I've been focusing on improving the defensive installations on the surface. Dwarven militaries being as inefficient as they are (it seems that orders given to military units are more like suggestions - "you guys might wanna go and attack the invaders after you're done doing whatever more important task you're doing right now"), I try to arrange my fortress in such a way that allows me to defend it with minimal effort.

Point of Interest: Storeroom level

I have decided to dedicate this entire level to storerooms. I probably won't be needing it for anything else, and storage space is always in demand. - CSFF

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

Goal 1 acheived: you've created a large pit. I like the layout so far. give a courtyard feel to ever level. I though, also, gives a useful place to dump all the spare stone you collect.

A tip, instead of building a bridge 3 spaces wide, build 3 one space wide instead. Saves you a lot of trouble if your dwarves begin to experience homicidal tendencies towards architecture.

I agree with your sentiment about "Dwarven Military".

I like the pillbox idea you've got going on, and I'm working on a secondary wall myself. Hope yours fares better than mine has.

Wall is great. I like how you mixed the stones you used, makes it look more authentic and interesting.

You can download the compressed map file: 2008-05/csff-Arrowpoint-region1-1061-12968.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
