Shieldgears - 1057 Early Spring by Markavian

Map Description:

Spring again. A quiet but busy year at Shieldgears. Many babies, 10 infact, and 21 children, no make that 20, maybe even 19... since they seem to be getting possessed and requesting unreasonable things from their parents. Even so, the dome is now finished, and the first sparsely furnished bedrooms are being claimed. Still some rock to clean out, but things are pacing well. No plans to expand the numbers, and I still haven't decided where to build the metalworking areas. Also the resevoir has been refilled, along with a new pump control system just to the west of the brook.

Point of Interest: Dam wall (top)

Top view of the dam wall and towers. The resevoir is only one tile deep, but fills the whole valley, providing fishing and protection for the constructions at the south of the valley. - Markavian

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

What character set/title set and color theme you using?

Hey AcidWeb, I'm using a mix between my own tileset and Sphr's graphics - you can download it from the list of user graphic sets page on the wiki.

I love the Big Square Quarry. Proper dwarf. :)

Beautiful lake you have going there.

Infact, beautiful all around.

It looks very peaceful, too. No rotting goblin corpses, no menacing walls or traps.

Wow. What a very nice planned out fortress you have got there. I think I might favorite it.

I rather enjoy this fortress. Waiting to see the dome completed too!

...I had never thought of making a dome.

I may have to try that, someday.

Amazing, this is by far my favorite fort so far. Great engineering feats as well as beauty.

I love this kind of fortress; with "this kind" I intend those fortress who look like they're from a plausible fantasy world: every building seems like it's carefully projected in all its details and shape.
I love this map, and I hope to see updates in the future!

p.s. wouldn't it be nice to make somekind of repository for "believable and detailed fortresses"
