Mountain-Banners, after the seventh and final year of the great Bridge-building challenge. The points of interest, if seen in order starting with "0. The sheer...", give you a guided tour of the fortress and its construction.
Bridge-building challenge thread (page five, includes 3D images):
Story: "A Journey to Mountain-Banners"
Every fort has its garbage. The detritus of construction, broken-up scaffolding, excess furniture and mechanisms, and even a few left-over ballista arrows all got dumped here. Here also is a small chalk block-producing operation hard at work using up the last boulders from our earlier quarrying for the spiral ramp. The blocks here have recently gone to build the plateau approach (POA #3) and are now becoming window slots for the residential balls, a job only about halfway done.
... and that, gentle dwarf, completes our tour of Mountain-Banners. You've seen the complete, the beautiful, and even some stuff that is neither. Tell our king that we have done as he bade. - Fedor
