Mountain-Banners, after the seventh and final year of the great Bridge-building challenge. The points of interest, if seen in order starting with "0. The sheer...", give you a guided tour of the fortress and its construction.
Bridge-building challenge thread (page five, includes 3D images):
Story: "A Journey to Mountain-Banners"
Clothmaking is a major industry at Mountain-Banners; our legendary dyer, weaver, and clothier together made the tapestry and area rugs in various places, clothe our dwarves, and have been responsible for perhaps half our total exports. They are capable of generating enormous value, especially when working with imported giant cave spider silk.
Milling also happens here. We mill dimple cups, hide root, and blade weed for dyes, and whip vines for flour to go into our increasingly valuable prepared meals (one stack of which we sold for 10,000!). We exercise some measure of control over what gets milled first by using a small stockpile adjacent to the querns and issuing "take from stockpile" orders as appropriate. At present, we want to mill whip vines as our prepared meals stockpile is a little bare. - Fedor
