Shieldgears - 1053 Early Spring by Markavian

Map Description:

End of the second year, traders have been and gone, food was offered for armor, and more food. The lone ranger, one of the migrants, has been stood atop the magma vent picking off fire imps as they surface. The miners have been busy excavating, and everyone has been preocuppied shifting stone around. We had our fourth marriage over summer, and the fort's second baby, bringing the population up to a round 40.

Most recent artifact was an obsidian statue, nothing special, encircled with bands of obsidian and engraved with an obsidian picture of circles. It now stands as a meeting point for party-goers under the sheds adjoining the trade depot.

Current construction project is a water lift to create a brook around the top, eastern edge of the map, and back down along the southern edge. This is more for border control then anything else. I'll be making a shift towards the west (and the magma) when I've got a few more defensives up, the necesssary workshops are just sprawled outside for the moment.

Point of Interest: Water lift

( 1053 Early Spring → onwards )

The reverse of a waterfall I guess, this design lifts water from the west and pumps it into the dwarf-made brook to the east. - Markavian

What character set/title set and color theme you using?

Hey AcidWeb, I'm using a mix between my own tileset and Sphr's graphics - you can download it from the list of user graphic sets page on the wiki.

I love the Big Square Quarry. Proper dwarf. :)

Beautiful lake you have going there.

Infact, beautiful all around.

It looks very peaceful, too. No rotting goblin corpses, no menacing walls or traps.

Wow. What a very nice planned out fortress you have got there. I think I might favorite it.

I rather enjoy this fortress. Waiting to see the dome completed too!

...I had never thought of making a dome.

I may have to try that, someday.

Amazing, this is by far my favorite fort so far. Great engineering feats as well as beauty.

I love this kind of fortress; with "this kind" I intend those fortress who look like they're from a plausible fantasy world: every building seems like it's carefully projected in all its details and shape.
I love this map, and I hope to see updates in the future!

p.s. wouldn't it be nice to make somekind of repository for "believable and detailed fortresses"
