Moonchannel - 260 Early Spring by Dwarfbux

Map Description:

Monchannel map: tenth anniversary edition! Also, I'm not dead!

It has been a rather quiet year for the most part. The dwarves got to killing a couple of forgotten beasts that had been lurking in the caverns: a winged humanoid made of peat with a deadly dust attack, which as far as I could tell just knocked dwarves unconscious, and a giant mite with a single glowing red eye with deadly blood. One is still hanging around down there because he is an unreachable spot, so if he wants to stay shut in his little section of the cavern for all time that is fine by me.

There was also a werellama attack, the only kind of werebeast I seem to get. There was only a single macedwarf in the vicinity who was able to answer the call to battle so that a dozen or so normal dwarves wouldn't get murdered horribly. He fights the thing for three straight days without taking so much as a scratch, breaking every bone in the werellama's body (and I do mean every bone), but didn't manage to kill him. The cavalry finally came to help with the fight and stabbed the werebeast silly, but unlickuly for the fortress champion the werellama somehow got a hold on his foot and bit it clean off before he himself was decapitated.

Luckily Borir the champion lives, albeit missing a foot. Rumor has it that Azierax, the macedwarf who fought for three entire days without a scratch, will not let Borir hear the end of it.

Point of Interest: Goblin king's quarters

Well, I had this nice three-layer throne room dug out, with amazing engravings on the floor and gold furniture everywhere to be found.

You can't assign goblins rooms.

Oh well. My garbagedwarves enjoy eating their dog tallow biscuits on the throne of the king in a grand hall alone. Maybe I should start charging them. - Dwarfbux

Well... Good luck with DF2014! It's only a few months at most for DF2015. I'm interested by the fact that goblins have joined a dwarven civilization. I had dwarves join goblins, or maybe they were raised from kidnapped dwarves or a clan of dwarves.

Enjoy the improvements, I'll be following your maps from the archive, I like your dwarfcentric playing.

Yeah the entrance doesn't hold a lot of gloom glitter nor glory atm. It's interesting to read how you talk about resourcing. But hey, you're only on year 2!

That was actually at the end of four years. I didn't upload the first few years since I didn't know if I would bust through understanding the military interface this time. Luckily, I did!

Man this is a GREAT fort!

I love the big X hallway in your Legendary Dwarf Quarters level.

When I look at the legendary dwarf quarters, a certain long forgotten feeling emerges... like something falling around the lungs or stomach. Jealousy? Awe? Pride?
