Things are speeding up. Since I have nearly 104 dwarves now, that leaves nearly 20-30 available for Masonry to build things and a LOT to drag limestone to the surface. I've also started putting dwarves in the mines on engraving duty until they reach legendary. I've had 12 who did and were conscripted into the fortress guard. There's another 15 down there right now.
Anyway, the outerwall is going fast and I expect it to be done in a few years. I'm starting to put in buildings for the future king including a gold tomb with gold coffin.
The first goblin invasion was pathetic. Even more pathetic was me wondering why my marksmen didn't shoot (they had hammers). My traps at the entrances are all for naught since they don't even think to run to the doors that I placed to keep my dwarves from running outside.
Everything is pretty much done here. I don't know what else to add to the town square besides more meeting halls and maybe a zoo once I get some interesting creatures (just have a Jaguar from the elves now). - joshdw4

Very cool so far, its looking like a proper castle :) I like the extensive space you've picked out for building your fort, lending to the Town Square and all that, makes it feel very organised and 'homely'?

To get invaders, I think you need a pop of at least 80

Thanks Markavian. I think I left too much room though. Need more ideas for things to put in. If only pumps still duplicated magma, I would mess with obsidian buildings
Thanks Krash. I'll probably raise it to 80 sometime soon, but I'm deathly afraid that I made a really dumb mistake... or that I'll up the cap and the next release will have digging goblins.

Looking really good now, I love the details with the tower and mosaic. The borders look pretty secure, you just need to make sure all the paths into the fort are trapped or guarded. If you haven't already, make a ton of bone bolts and train up some peasants as marksdwarves and post them around the entrances.

Sure Sukasa. I'll hand it over when I'm done. Do you want me to abandon, succumb to an invasion, or just hand it to you functioning?

Functioning, perhaps? I'd be interested in seeing how you make things work, my forts can never get big before they fail in some spectaculr way or another (usually a result of mishaps in the machinery rooms). PRobably the best was when I flooded an entire underground base in only a few seconds XD
Only one question- where'd you source the water for the moat? I notice that you have a lot of water in all the lakes and the moat, but I can't see any particular source for said moat >_>

The water for the moat and the waterfall come from the aquifer. For the moat, I pumped it out and then closed the floodgate. The waterfall gets pumped from the aquifer then runs back into it.

I'm retiring this one. Just a little bored of it. Just let me know where to send it.

Think you could message me on the bay12games forum? I've got a place I'd like to know if you could send it, but I don't want to give out the URL for it publically, it's a private uploader.
