Wolf Doctor's 7 years old daughter has taken up the duty of becoming the best fighter in town. She's already bested all the professional dwarves. She's a great fighter and an accomplished axedwarf in age only 7.
Meanwhile the channel works cost me eight dwarves. They got trapped inside a food chamber and thrived there until they ran out of booze and my brain was too hazy to find out why some were dying before I physically saw bodies in the storage.
The Jewelers' Tower still stands as the tallest building in town. We've accumulated 50% more wealth during the last 5-6 years. It went up frm 2,2 million to 3,5M.
The palace has refitted the arms chamber into a court dining room. A new royal dining hall opened in the old town featuring chalk tables, a gold block pillar and porcelain statues.
The northern quarry has been defensively flooded with water.
A human diplomat was slain a few years back but they sent a new one. Diplomacy was successful but boring. No new wars started.

Nice surface fort. Very nice layout. Big quarries.

Thanks, tbh I had no idea how much I would have to mine stone to get it all roofed up and floored... Turns out a lot. I'm happy that there's plenty of iron ore though, so much that I'm making "windows" of it. The town is called "Mountain of Immortality", it just somehow became "Immortal". The idea is to mine out the sides so that the town seems to be lying on an artificial mountain or at least above dreadful pits in flat lands.

wow, awesome town! I stopped making surface buildings a long time ago because the process was too tedious, but then I discovered DFhack and auto material and all was well.
post more! assuming it lives.

I'm motivated by the upcoming DF2014 patch to try different things and possibly explore DF2012 mods that will be incompatible with the new version. In this process I discovered DFhack, the new Dwarf Therapist and lots of other utilities, and great music.

Me too. I think my current project may be my final one for this version.
