Pagemouth - 65 Late Spring by Noble Digger

Map Description:

Pagemouth. Granted, it's not the name I necessarily wanted when I accidentally hit "e" while trying to add Tiger Blood barrels to my embark wagon, but I've come to like it.

Pagemouth is for the most part not the kind of site dwarves choose. It has a 40+ tile-wide river and a double aquifer, endless trees and no stone to be seen.

I'm not sure how long this fort's been running now, but I've received three immigrant waves and had ~15 dwarves give birth since I hit 200 population, leaving current figures at about 230. Not sure if it will be stopping anytime soon :X

The forest provides plenty of wood and edible plants, the river provides fish, and the elephants provide bolts, meat, and hides. Last year I successfully finished penetrating the aquifer and quarrying stone, and a small magma forge has been built.

POIs coming later.

Point of Interest: 40. Foundry and Ore Stockpile

( 65 Late Spring → onwards )

The addition of wagons and minecarts came along with a massive boost to the weight of things made out of metal and stone. It now takes a very, very long time for a dwarf to haul a stone around. To help combat this, I create very small stockpiles with 3 wheelbarrows each, but it only helps with about 25% of hauling jobs, because a dwarf will spend 3 months hauling a stone by hand rather than coming to get a wheelbarrow first, making the trip take 1000% as long to complete...

There are food stockpiles here to help keep the furnace operators where they belong. This also doesn't work. I've seen them run out of this room to the main liquor stockpile when they're thirsty. Bastards... - Noble Digger
