Thundergoats, a lakeside mountain fortress. Home to forty childless dwarves who have so far barely managed to put up a wall and moat after 3 sieges and a handful of assorted tragic deaths.
The cage traps capture many random animals. My military has no time to deal with them, and we need the cages back. The easiest thing has been to shove them down this 20-odd floor-deep hole and let them splat. I only open the doors at the bottom when most of the refuse has decayed away, leaving the valuable bones and equipment (in the case of Goblins). - Noble Digger

Here's the wagon landing and inner fortress yard. Dogs on leashes keep the kobolds out. The four staircases in the corners lead down into the fort.
Refuse is stored outside the inner wall along with most of the cages and blocks. - Noble Digger
