Sanctuary: Preserving Dwarven Knowledge

Point of Interest: Powerplant/Latching Plates

The powerplant exploits the bug which keeps water flowing off the map as still flowing even after it's blocked. Once complete, it'll produce 25,000 power. To the top-right is the water tower that needs to be dug down to level 2 which is fed by the river.

To the right are the latching pressure plates. Originally planned to use railcars (above, and dismantled) they were replaced with the standard water system. Water is held on the top hatch cover until a migrant steps on the pressure plate in the holding area, dropping the water onto the bottom plate which holds open the hatch cover, blocking pathing. A lever activates the pump and resets the system. The layout of the latches corresponds to the layout of the holding area. - martin

¶ 85. Central Core
The central core will descend as far as the fortress does and is the main habitation/storage area for the founders/guards. From here they will control the flow of migrants, take care of any maintenance issues in the fortress, and defend the structure. - martin
Δ 85. Main Entrance
Currently under construction, this will be the main defensive approach for the guards so that they can clear/clean the map and handle problems as they arise. - martin
Δ 85. Migrant Defense Tower
Located in each corner of the map, these low towers have drawbridges to allow the approach of migrants. Each tower will ultimately be trapped, but only a few traps are currently located below this tower. The entrance tunnels are all fully engraved, displaying the history of Sanctuary. - martin
Δ 85. Trader Approach
Isolated from the surrounding space, traders can make a safe approach without drawing the attention of any hostiles in the area. - martin
Δ 81. Migrant Holding
These mostly automated rooms are designed to draw in a migrant when they need food/booze/sleep and using the pressure plate and the latching triggers to remove their ability to exit. After they have been determined to be safe, the drawbridge in the lower level can open to allow them access to the fortress where they can enter a bunker via the maintenance tunnels. - martin

Collapsed from the surface will be primed with a beehive to be split and expanded. Subterranean level will have birds for egg collection (skilless). - martin

Collapsed from the surface, allows both surface and subterranean grazing for butcher animals. Will likely also include a number of birds for butchery. - martin

Δ 77. Bunker [1,2]: Trade
The trade bunker will be extended downward to support the 2nd bunker level but has living quarters on this level and storage up above. Two depots with airlocks allow safe control of trade. - martin

This double-sized bunker handles brewing and contains extra storage space to accommodate warehousing plants, barrels, and booze itself. - martin

This double-sized bunker handles cooking and contains extra storage space to accommodate warehousing various food types and extra prepared meals. - martin
Δ 77. General Bunker Layout
Each bunker is normally 3 stories. One level is living quarters and contains food/booze storage, dining table, 5 bedrooms, and access to a well and a refuse chute which will have magma at the bottom. Another level is the work level and connects to the rail system. The 3rd level is storage, the tomb for family members, and a craft workshop and materials to handle moods. This level also has access to the maintenance tunnels so residents can enter and means to retrieve anything that might fall through rail pits. All bunkers are exceptional/masterfully engraved, and have exceptional/masterful furniture. This should go a long way to keeping everyone happy.

There are 4 rail lines:
1) food/booze/clothing/soap that reaches every bunker (part of outer pair)
2) trade that reaches every bunker (part of outer pair)
3) 2x production goods (part of inner pair)

The production lines ferry raw materials from bunker to bunker. The butcher shop will produce meat, hides, and bones which will be picked up by the cook, tanner, and bonecrafter.

Some bunkers have dedicated production lines to take load off of the main lines, such as from the weaver to the dyer to the clothesmaker. These goods generally don't flow along any other production chain, so this simplifies the setup.

Each rail stop is has a pressure plate/door combination on approach and exit to keep dwarves from wandering on the tracks, and to block line of sight to other dwarves. A pit is also placed between bunkers to prevent any pathing at all. The cart will easily jump the pit. Two stops at each bunker on each line - the first for drop-off of goods and the second for pickup. - martin
Δ 75. Water/Magma Level
Water and magma will be pumped into these tunnels. Water to feed the wells which will draw from reservoirs isolated from the system. A pressure plate will cause them to automatically refill via pump. Water tunnels have paved road bottoms to prevent tree growth. Water will be introduced after Level 2 is dug, and magma once magma is found. - martin
Δ 74. 1st Lever Room
This is a minimap of the fortress surface and first bunker level and contains all control levers for accessing bunkers and controlling migrants. The railways are simply to represent the railways on the first level. At the top are the migrant holding room controls. - martin
