Dragonflag - 158 Late Autumn by Unbeltedsundew

Map Description:

Before I flood and dam the river I decided to upload a "before" shot.

There are something like 50 or 51 pumps in that stack, which is why It took so long to get the materials for it. I've melted a lot of anvils....

I also have the Dwarf caravan arriving in this map to see the bridge safety when crossing the magma channel.

Point of Interest: Mechanics tower

Here I am working on the top of the mechanics tower. It is the same design as the Masons towers but those had to be used immediately for the interim fort and this is the only one that will be built in the proper order. - Unbeltedsundew

That's a pretty sweet waterfall to stop off at!

I just marked the starting wago with a PoI, good look with construction :)

¶ 158. Masons Towers

They are missing the upper parts but the lower part is now functional. All that remains to be completed in the lower part is aesthetic construction, and will likely take a while. I'll get onto the rest of the fort in the meantime. - Unbeltedsundew

Top of the stack, I made all the intervening pumps with gabbro blocks, and made this one with bauxite as sort of a commemorative pump... If there can be such a thing.

To the left you can see the bauxite hatch for draining the system. Closing the bottom hatch and opening this hatch should eventually clear out all the magma if It requires maintenance. - Unbeltedsundew

Here the dwarf traders arrive from the mountainhomes. As you can see the buffer now keeps the wagon out of the channel as it makes the transition up the ramps. I'm hoping they don't get lit on fire from the side there though. I;m too lazy to fix it to make sure though . Maybe though dwarfs on fire just make me happy. - Unbeltedsundew

Δ 60. Vampires

Both my trapped vampires had moods and are now totally miserable. I am pleased. I hope they enjoy the eternity of time they spend in the walls.

In other vampire news I have this awful ghost who is not on my slabs list and I cant get rid of. Also I am worried it might be a vampiric ghost? An engraver has disappeared and I have not had any immigrants in a while thankfully (migrants are set to 22 which is where the population now stands with this latest missing person).

Also strangely I think the vampires may have killed a few of the merchants when they were still around because for som reason I have a few dead merchants in the list and don't know of anything else that could of killed them.

The un-slabable dwarf also happens to be a swords dwarf. Was he a caravan guard. Can caravan members be vampires? Probably. I think in the future grand entrance I should make a point of having a multi stage entry process to keep out unwanted riffraff. An immigration center if you will. - Unbeltedsundew

I put in a hatch here to block magma access so I can clear the plumbing out if need be. It's bauxite since I've got so much of the stuff. - Unbeltedsundew
