• Δ 17. Stone-B-Flung
  Here we have the surface disposal-works. Adding a second atom-smasher cut out some walking time for my cleaners, and the addition of two stone-a-pults allowed me to start a professional development program for some of my less skilled dwarves.
  
  You might notice some extra short labourers around these parts. At some point I decided things would never get done without everybody pitching in so Workedmaw began recruiting it's industrious offspring. Their small hands work wonders on with the heavy equipment. - njero
• Δ 16. In the Beginning
  The initial settlement was built here at the edge of the brook, and slowly evolved according to a combination of design and necessity. The original dormitory still stands, with levels added when more beds were needed. A tunnel entrance was quickly built, with retractable bridges holding the goblins at bay as best as possible.
  
  The fortress' very first farm-plot is still being used, and can be found one level down from the trade depot.
  
  Once these basics had been set up and long, winding causeway was built to extend the total perforation time available to Workedmaw's marksdwarves. It worked well, few goblins were ever required to meet the business end of a hammer. - njero
• Δ 15. Food Cave
  Early planning involved making as small a footprint as possible on the Workedmaw's perimeter. Digging in to the hills for food and shelter seemed appropriate (you can see the temporary dorms to the West). - njero
• Δ 15. Power the Stacks!
  A lot of pumping means a lot of power. Good returns were achieved from scraping the top off of the brook, and then building a new surface out of water wheels.
  
  From here, you can follow the axles straight up a short ways, and then down and around the pit to the stacks. I can't remember if the reason they cut in on the pit's circumference was due to expediency, geography, or a missed Shift+Down, but by adding a few support struts to the side of the pit retained the overall feel that the pit was supposed to achieve. - njero
• Δ 2. Magma refill control.
  I hadn't counted on the pipe's refill mechanics when I cut into it to provide pressurized plumbing to the dual reservoir.
  
  One level below this control room is the pressurization works, but construction there has been painfully flow due to the regular flooding of the room. In attempt to ease the process, I added this control room to pick up the magma from the future pump squares (two of the three are now built, with a temporary glass window in the place of the third). Unfortunately, it isn't working. When I first activated the control pumps there was some magma picked up, but not anymore.
  
  I wonder if it's because the squares below hold the walkable side of pumps? Maybe you just can't pick the magma up from those squares. - njero
• Δ 1. Stone-B-Gone
  Most major construction projects require a crap-tonne of blocks, and therefore stone. If it isn't going to be cast, you'll often you'll see a quarry tucked away in some forgotten corner of the map. But what if you're casting. What if you're casting IN AN ARTIFICIAL PIT? What if you're planning to cast a mountain of obsidian, suspended in a pit, and then dig a fortress out of it?
  
  Then you need to get rid of some spare rocks.
  
  The Stone-B-Gone was Workedmaw's original stone removal device, and was erected at the bottom of a pit-spanning shaft to remove a few extra vertical steps. Small gains add up, when you have a ridiculous supply of magma-safe stone that needs chucking. - njero
• Δ Dual Reservoir
  This is the footing of the new reservoir system. Since the North and South pump stacks failed pressure testing and are now just pretty baubles, a new lift is needed for the future magma casting.
  
  And what do Dwarfs do when they need a pump stack for magma casting? They magma cast it! I'm building a temporary pump stack on either side of the future permanent fixture, and once the column is cast, I'll dig it out and convert it to a permanent stack.
  
  This time, all the fluids will go up 4x1 stacks on the side and then get dumped into a vertically continuous tank from the top. - njero
