Map Description:

This is the spring of the third year. There has just been a major goblin ambush, whose massed crossbows quickly overwhelmed our paltry military.

Point of Interest: Reservoir

A waterworks is under construction, to divert a portion of the river into a cistern. The intention is to use a series of axles to power a pump, filling the cistern to the proper level. Some say the system is flawed, and the works will flood once the main floodgate is opened. What fools! - Machimouse

Δ 40. Charge of the Light Brigade
This is the site of the recent goblin ambush. Our brave mace-dwarves and marks-dwarves had been training on the plentiful wildlife - badgers of enormous size! This clearly isn't enough when facing down a number of filthy goblins well-armed with crossbows. One managed to work into the fort and terrorize the populace until being brought low by the sole remaining trained dwarf. - Machimouse

Do not be alarmed at this most un-dwarven sight! The area in front of the entrance provides a variety of tasty plants and animal products, and acts as (goblin bait) a center for the grazing land around the fort.
To the North is a chicken pen, and the beginnings of a wall, currently serving as a cage-trapline. Proper fortifications are clearly called for. - Machimouse
Δ 38. Kitchen and storage
This level mainly houses the kitchen and associated larders, and storage for other goods. We always need more barrels and bins! - Machimouse

Δ 37. Workshops
This is the center of the fort's production capabilities. To the East is metals-processing. There is an abundance of silver in these foothills. There is not, however, any coal to power continuous manufacturing. - Machimouse

These are the beginnings of the great subterranean halls every dwarf wishes for! We must go deeper! - Machimouse
