A bit further along.

A bit more about the situation: I had invasion turned on a while ago, but after retaking the fortress a few times it was getting tedious. The most annoying thing isn't retaking it but cleaning it up afterward and having to wait so long to get started again. In other words since Im not giving the place up I decided to leave it off for a while while I got things done. Ill turn it on again later. Im thinking of setting 285 as the deadline. I've been concentrating on the basic surface structures.

Anyway I drained the first layer of the aquifer and put off the second layer and the farm dig while I worked on the workshop dig, and surface things.

Point of Interest: Crundle Hospital

None of the blood spattered floors in this hospital is from this critter, my guys killed him quick, I think it was my bluntmen. This place used to be a lot bloodier when my manager was alive.

I have no idea if they are using the wells. It annoys me. - Unbeltedsundew

Δ 111. Hermit House
Home of "Crazy Fucking Hermit" Longlosalblahdwarf. He has poor social skills and is intelligent and plays music, I just got him this year, it's good that he fits his roll perfectly.

I screwed up the export, I also wanted to see a front view of this so I could see the peaked roof. Ill get it next time.

As you can see its got all the amenities. The bedroom counts as splendid. Its floored with lignite blocks, I didn't look lignite up until later. But it's ok lets just hope he's careful with fire. Food piles above and a still and small farm along with a wine cellar below. - Unbeltedsundew
Δ 108. Drained aquifer
I forced it back and sealed it with the Rainbow Wall and the river dyke. one more to go, its more complicated though cause I need a fair amount for the farm complex otherwise I'd eliminated it.

Im surprised its such a good tree farm. I now have to develop some planned tree farms deep underground. The funny thing is that burning through all my previous stock of trees was my motive for starting the workshop dig so I could tap the magma. And now I have so much available.

It may be coincidental but my fps went from 10 to about 18-20 after getting rid of this area. I don't know why. But that is the only change I can put a finger on. - Unbeltedsundew
Δ 107. Military towers
Starting to come to gether finally. When I arbitrarily decided to do the built portions in differnt collours it had an unintended benifit: Blue for Justice dwarfs (obviously), Red for my Elite Soldiers, Yellow (sun and sky right?) for my ranged dwarfs, and Grey my regular grunts. It will have a capacity for 40 dwarfs total, I've got 19 right now with about 10 of those lords of some sort (and a sword master).

Annoyingly I've been lax about equipment so lots of them have started naming things and getting attached to iron shields etc. One of them even has a Silver sword that's been named I have no clue where it came from I certainly didn't make it. - Unbeltedsundew

As he hasn't yet gone completely off the bend and sequestered himself yet, dwarfs have been wondering what he means when they pass nearby and hear him mutter: "It puts the lotion on its skin." - Unbeltedsundew

This is the intended effect of all those z lvls of empty space. I'm going to continue this motif into the construction of the cathedral. This only shows the foundation arches and the sewer tunnels at the bottom there. - Unbeltedsundew
Δ 58. First Masouleam
Unfortunately I actually started to like some dwarfs by now. This guy was my manager, he liked steel, so he's got a steel coffin and the door is steel decorated with puppy bones.

He was a great dwarf, mining, building stuff, making sure jobs got done. All this while hobbling around with a mangled hand a mangled hip and an open artery. He left a trail of blood everywhere he went.... for years.

He got killed by a troll or something (I didnt notice for while because of spam) a while after I cut into the new caverns and magma sea. - Unbeltedsundew

I just wanted to see what it was looking like and decided it was a good year to upload too. Should be pretty awesome when Im done. Not that it is a monument to efficiency though since distances are ending up so long with these big projects :) - Unbeltedsundew
Δ 48. Workshop indesicion
I changed my mind about how to arrange the spiral ramps. Originally it was going to take a 5x5 block then I reduced it to 2x2 (I tend to avoid even numbers in my plans but thought it would look good, it did, but wasn't working out really) and then settled on 3x3 which my very first concepts were assuming before I started planning. Anyways that's why its a mess, it's going to require some clean up. - Unbeltedsundew
