Sunkenfires growth continues. The pump system for breaching the first layer of aquifer is in place, and just about ready to be activated. In the year since arriving at the site, the original 7 dwarves have been joined by a good number of migrants. Due to the lack of available jobs, they've spent most of the time partying, getting married, and drinking.
This massive array of pumps (the system takes almost 1000 power!), driven by a dwarven perpetual motion machine, has been designed to drain aquifer water faster than it can fill, allowing the residents of Sunkenfires to fix walls into place and breach the aquifer. There is a second aquifer level below this one, which will necessitate a similar, but smaller, pump system, reusing parts from this level.
The pump system is almost ready to be activated. All that remains to be done is:
* Finish removing the land bridge to the north of the stairs.
* Finish construction of a bridge to access the stairs.
* Dig draw channels and manually start machinery. - SenorPez
