Wirebearded - 506 Early Spring by Doppel

Map Description:

An older 40d fortress running with the orcmod.
The fortress is located in an evil biome and was started in the year 500.

Point of Interest: Trade depot

The roof above the trade depot is carved out to let sunlight in because i like elves (until enough come visit me to be dropped in the automated spike thrusting pits).
The trade depot is surrounded with thousands dwarfmonies worth of prepared meals and bloodstained loincloths (those spikes really hit the nuts in a most unpleasurable poking motion). - Doppel

Looks like a cool spot fort a fortress. Good work on the walls and and central vaults.

Wow! This is a very, very nice fort! Very aesthetically pleasing and well laid-out, esp. with the gardens.

Δ 48. Entry
Entry to the fortress from the north. There's also a similar entry for caravans (and incoming sieges) from the south. - Doppel

Δ 44. Traps
Here you can see cagetraps and a walkway of bridges controlled by levers. On the level above this one there are more bridges to be contracted when i want to shoot anyone on this level, below are yet again more bridges to be contracted when i want to shoot anyone i dropped into the spike pits. - Doppel
Δ 42. Spike pits
Yes you can't see them but this pit, and the one on the north, is filled with spikes connected to a automated system with a single pressure plate. They move in a nicely slow and synchronised jabbing motion. You can also see lots of bolts around, they're shot from one level above to finish any unfortunate survivors off. - Doppel
Δ 41. Artifact
An artifact armorstand made out of platinum if i remember correctly. - Doppel
Δ 40. Fishing area
Lotsa bolts to the right and a nice view onto the fishing area below (one level down). - Doppel
Δ 38. Food processing and related workshops
There's a lot of stuff to be processed there. On the left you can see the cave river, i can shut it off, lead it to various parts of the fortress to be muddied for giant mushroom growth, use it to create waterfalls and pressurize the massive tank below it. - Doppel
Δ 37. Farms
The farms with its drainage system. - Doppel
Δ 35. Power
Two rotating waterfalls powering a number of waterwheels. Its also a nice area for dwarfs to join up and the little puffs of mist make them happy. - Doppel
Δ 33. Pressure plate
A nice little feat of engineering. The little square of water in the southwest corner will get carried over to each square you see by an automated screwpump system, until it drops on the pressure plate just on the right which trigger the spikes in the spike pit to shoot out of the ground. Currently its shut down as there's some stuff to be cleaned out of the spike pits. - Doppel
Δ 32. Rooms
Housing are with a dwarfmade cave forest surrounding it.
The room on the left with the gold artifact is held by one of our more prominent dwarfs. - Doppel
Δ 31. Mayor's house
Stairs decending into our mayor's house, he even has his own little garden. On the left some more regular housing. - Doppel
Δ 29. Dining room
Our grand dining room, with an optional waterfall to the left for special occasions. - Doppel
Δ 27. More rooms
The stair on the north decend into another grand noble house. Surroundings are newly created cave forests, its still damp there. - Doppel
Δ 25. Levers
They control the all of the drawbridges just below the surface. It comes with rooms to house a specialized "leverpuller". - Doppel
Δ 19. The wall
A lone goblin trying to find its way in. You can just see the corner of the great wall, it encompasses the entire map and mountain, keeping everything (aside from flying horrors) out of almost all of the maps surface. - Doppel
Δ 17. The chasm
And one of its inhabitants. There are some more troglodytes and bats about, and i catched me a Troll too. - Doppel
Δ 16. Future workshop rooms

Below it is some "HIDDEN FUN STUFF!!!", those blue guys are making strands. - Doppel
Δ 8. Forges
They are located one level up. 'T was a lot of work and planning getting that magma there to power the four forges, but it was worth it. Ok, i admit, it did require some savescumming as not sealing the pit fast enough would have been the end of the fortress. On the north you can see some blueprints to lead some more magma into savel pockets to power more forges. - Doppel
Δ 4. Justice
Here, deep within the earth, constructed over the chasm are the prisons. - Doppel

They come in different sizes. - Doppel
