Another day, another fortress. One year embarkment anniversary. I don't think this site has flux, but it has magma, underground water, sand, and trees, which is mostly what I was looking for. I hope to take this fortress a decade plus, and get into something resembling decently-sized sieges.
When my part-time broker, part-time barrel-maker turned out this masterwork bed, I was quite surprised, but I figured it could be a good soporificator for dwarves coming down to the dreaming warrens.
I may have to move it into nobles' quarters at some point, but for now, I like it where it is. - apparentbliss

I've run into the same kind of thing with workers suspending construction. The loose stone where the workshop is going has to be cleared first; if there's a nearby adjacent space they'll do it as part of the construction, but for some reason they won't do it on a diagonal.
If you have your haulers dump the stones that are in the way you should be able to get the construction order to go through.
