Tomeglacier - 299 Late Spring by McDolomite

Map Description:

This is my first fortress with 45+ dwarfes and the first to have a forge.

Pop.:129

I didn't care to much about order this time which is probably the reason I've gotten so far. I often start over because I'm to perfectionistic.

Despite the chaos, I quite like how the design turned out. You can see the different stages of the fortress development based on the architectural styles.

The main sight of the fort is basicly the nekropolis, I love the hexagonal tombs.
When a tomb is filled I engrave its floor.
I feel like the main prupose of this city in the north is to fill it, so I don't trie to melt ice for a watersource and dont protect it to well.
I almost wait for the fortress to crumble but it somehow refuses.

Also there was not a single gem found, which killed 5 mooding imigrant gemcutters and a child. The lone tombs in the exploratory mining areas are 3 of their graves. May their souls settle in the stone and become the gemstones that the miners weren't able to find.

I imagine the whole fort to be a little morbid.

Point of Interest: graveyard igloo

You should clean up the loose rock, or hide it away- the place looks a bit rough at the moment. Great layout with the rooms and the different floors.

I'm glad you like it.
Ok the next update will be with stones hidden.

No Megabeast has attacked yet. I don't know if there are enough nearby.

Haha you're right. We do have some similar construction styles -- especially for our hallways. Yet many things are different as well.

I really like your northern hall on Level 13. Did you design it around the vein on purpose? It's brilliant!

Yes, I spontaneously adapted my design to integrate it when I found the vein.
