Dentedcastle - 465 Early Summer by Andrea

Map Description:

2 years later, tower is grown, few other dwarves died in sieges, fields are producing much more and now they are not cultivated in winter. Dining room is finally finished, and I am having an hard time cleaning the place from goblin stuff. I want to sell fortress made clothing, but these goblins bring so much...

Point of Interest: Main workshop level

( 465 Early Summer → 550 )

This is where all miscellaneous workshops lie, the level which makes my fortress work and expand by giving us blocks, food and drinks.
It is snowy, so I will have to dismantle everything , pave everything, remove roads, then rebuild workshops. I'll do that after i finish work on the castle.
You can see supports: the plan with the tower is to eventually make it safe from cave ins. Only few levels have supports at the moment. - andrea

Awesome fortress. I started a new fort and am making a modified layout of your castle. Hopefully I can get a map of it up soon.

Δ 27. Baron rooms
here lives the baron, with the consort. One likes adamantine, the other bismuth. As soon as I lose a good dwarf because of them, I'll find a way to kill them. hopefully I won't need that. - andrea
Δ 26. Dining room
The jewel of the fortress, finally ready. This level and the one above ( in the future also the one below, which at the moment is used only for parties) are dedicated to dwarven meals. It is big enough to host my whle fortress together, and still have much some room left. note that I have 212 dwarves. I am including also the future bottom level, but still I have more space than I will ever need.
Statues are for room value, and the holes are for Visual fortress. It looks really awesome from the inside, which makes me VERY happy. - andrea
Δ 23. Marksdwarves quarters
After i finish other levels in the towers, and after i get more dwarves , here I will build the marksdwarf quarters, separated from the melee military. They will have their own bedrooms, a shared dining room , archery targets and most important of all access to all the outer walls. - andrea
Δ 19. Cloth industry

( 465 Early Summer to 550 )
This level , and the level above, are fully dedicated to manufacturing cloth, cloth, and more cloth. The output, when I'll have enough dwarves, will be enough to cover all the dwarves in the world. Don't call me elf for this: cloth is a great way to employ large numbers of dwarves and give reasonable wealth. Also, I am mercilessly butchering more than 10 thousands of trees to make this, then some more to get glass, metal and potash for the farms. This is one of the greatest environmental dangers of the world.
At the moment, i am using 3 different dyes ( red, green and blue), number which is not likely to change. - andrea

Δ 17. Farms

( 465 Early Summer to 550 )
100 farm tiles are all a fortress will ever need. Well, i disaggree, so here i have more than 500 tiles, and more or less 15 dwarves working on them full time. most of it are rope reed, blade weed and hide root, while food takes only a small part. Dwarves don't eat much. - andrea
Δ 17. Lower noble quarters

( 465 Early Summer to 550 )
This is where lower nobles stay, in their wooden houses
( dungeon master, mayor, bookkeeper, advisor, tax collector, philosofer).

I think I'll put here also the lever puller's house, with a basement that holds all the levers of my fort so that , hopefully, I can get quick lever pulling during sieges. Failing that, i'll build backup rooms underground with stockpiles, just to be sure he will do his work. His wife will be lever puller as well. - andrea
