After three-ish days, I'm 2/3 done the insane amount of designating this project is going to need-- of the 50 or so layers I want, 25 are designated, but the walls in the upper areas will be tapering in so there'll be less to do there. Unfroze for a about a year to get some stuff done, including my test collapse at the grotto entrance. Digging will probably start in another couple days.
This is driving me crazy, but in a good way. Can't wait to see how the final chamber looks.
This is what the traders will see before they enter the main grotto - a 7z high open-air cavern with a walkway through.
I used this area for my collapsing test - discovered that although I only let floor tiles fall, the natural ramps underneath them were still destroyed. Going to have to find some way around this when I collapse the giant main cavern.
The bridge is there because I had stupidly dug underneath the pathway BEFORE I collapsed it, and didn't think about it-- so I destroyed part of it. The bridge is all right, though. Might one day replace it with a nicer-looking one.
future edit- I was REALLY upset with accidentally collapsing away the path - I saved before I realized - so I later came back, tore down the bridge, and retiled it in natural floors using Dtil. Cheap? Eh, I would have been willing to put the work in if there had been some way I could have, so I'm willing to concede the point. - Retro
