Firecleft - 243 Early Summer by Kardos

Map Description:

It is now year 16 of Firecleft. Construction on the western wall and is about to begin, as is the construction for teh security tower (the main access hub) and the obsidian factory.

Point of Interest: Turnpike

This is the security tower, dubbed the Turnpike. From here access to almost every main part of the fortress, be it the entrance, residental or industry will be had. Directly to the south is the desginated excavation for the western wall connecting the turnpike and the obsidian factory. - Kardos

Δ 27. Turnpike, West Wall.
This is the top of the western wall and construction work on the turnpike. In place of the halfring around the tower is going to be a wall made of obsidan blocks. The plan is to use Granite Blocks for the western wall. Eventually the cliff face will be cut away to expose the wall. - Kardos
Δ 22. Main Entrance (Trade Tower)
The perimeter walls are almost finished for the trade tower. Filling in the interior floors will be whole 'nother adventure. - Kardos
Δ 22. Obsidian Factory
This is the obsidian factory. It will house 3 layers of obsidian production (each mold is 21x21). Above that will be the magma forges metal industry. The giant circles of designated stairs will eventually turn into the factory walls (3 thick) and a perimeter walkway for security and defence. - Kardos
Δ 22. Production
Here is where most of the blocks are produced. Granite and Obsidian are the main attractions, but I also utilied mica, microline and alunite for various layers in the obsidian tower. The giant wood stockpile is being used to manufacture ash (for clear glass) and charcoal (to utilize as fuel and for steel production until the magma forges are set up). The map is heavily forested and I can easily designat a few thousand trees at a time to be cut down. - Kardos

Δ 22. West Wall.
I spent over 5 hours designating the excavations for the turnpike walls, obsidian factory walls, and the western wall. Mostof the time was spent in trial and error finding the right size of circle to base the S-shape of the western wall off of. Ultimately I ended up using a circle with a diameter of 135 tiles from MS Paint.
The lower path uses a similar S-curve but utilizes a circle of 85 tiles in diameter. - Kardos
Δ 15. Obsidian Factory (lower level)
This is lower entrnace of the Obsidian Factory. There is a tunnel that connects to the turnpike. The four circular tubes will be the resevoirs for the magma and water (2 water and 2 magma). Each are 10 levels deep. - Kardos
