Undergrotto is my attempt to make a VERY large open-air cavern underground. It's looking to have a fairly wide area at this point (Nov 12), and will probably be fifty-ish z-levels high, most of that space open air. I really just want it to look awesome in Visual Fortress more than anything else.
Things that Undergrotto will have when finished are marked here map. I've been planning how to lay it out, CARVE it out, and still make it look 'natural' and aesthetically pleasing for about a week or so. It'll only be minorly efficient, of course, but hey. Dwarf Fortress.
This particular map is more or less entirely just for my own benefit, as I want to be able to check out the layout plans easily.
I just realized I'm not sure what year I started the fort. Once I begin engraving things I should be able to get a handle on that, I suppose. Probably between 80 and 83.
[Update from the future: This was originally going to be a regular rocky shoreline, with a tunnel to a beach and pool across the map, under the soily areas. Then I remembered that there was no sand on this map at all - just silt. Spent quite a while turning this whole area to sand after I collapsed everything, as you can see from 89 on.]
