Undergrotto is my attempt to make a VERY large open-air cavern underground. It's looking to have a fairly wide area at this point (Nov 12), and will probably be fifty-ish z-levels high, most of that space open air. I really just want it to look awesome in Visual Fortress more than anything else.
Things that Undergrotto will have when finished are marked here map. I've been planning how to lay it out, CARVE it out, and still make it look 'natural' and aesthetically pleasing for about a week or so. It'll only be minorly efficient, of course, but hey. Dwarf Fortress.
This particular map is more or less entirely just for my own benefit, as I want to be able to check out the layout plans easily.
I just realized I'm not sure what year I started the fort. Once I begin engraving things I should be able to get a handle on that, I suppose. Probably between 80 and 83.
I've been digging away some of the land over here to make it lower for the moat. There's ANOTHER mini-aquifer over here, so this project too is stopped until wintertime. - Retro

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-11/retro-Undergrotto-Undergrotto-85-23849.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
