Wasprag - 67 Early Spring by Quietust

Map Description:

Just over 4 years have passed since my last entry.

My moody leatherworker completed her artifact, and it has been enshrined just outside my entrance.

My battlements have also been completed, and I trained my remaining Hammer Lord to be a Champion through some minor hacking (namely, by momentarily turning off everyone's brains so the she would drop her artifact larch crossbow).

The tomb area has been expanded and reorganized - the north half is reserved entirely for my citizens, and the outer edges on the south half are for pets. The large tombs in the south half are for my Champions. An additional tomb area was also dug out on the Z-level above and has been reserved for my Fortress and Royal Guards.

A bit bored with how things were going, I decided to double the size of my tower-cap farm by excavating an additional layer below it and simply using floodgates for irrigation. The irrigation pumps above were thinned out somewhat, as all but the northmost pumps would run dry after a few seconds.

Finally, significant renovation has been done - nearly all of the doors in the fortress have been replaced with exceptional obsidian, with masterwork obsidian in the most significant locations (such as noble quarters, meeting areas, and the private tombs).

The Elves have continued to bring cloth, and I have continued to murder them, mostly by dropping them into the magma pipe (as caving in the depot is messy and is burdensome to reload), and I have repeatedly refused to accept any tree cutting quotas from the Diplomat. With luck, I should be at war soon.

I have plans to expand my military to include 7 hammerdwarves in addition to my marksdwarves. Though it tends to make a rather large mess out front, it's much more amusing to knock the goblins around (and I might even get lucky and knock a few directly into the magma pipe).

Point of Interest: Shrine

( 67 Early Spring → onwards )

The previously mentioned moody leatherworker decided to make an Elf leather harp, so I built a shrine for it.

The shrine is constructed entirely of cougar tallow soap, and contains an inner moat of magma. On the pedestal in the center lies the artifact harp, and at the very top is a masterwork Adamantine metal statue. - Quietust

Holy crap thats cool. How are you gonna get all that magma there? construct a big pumping tower?

I'll build a pump tower extending all the way to the top of the map, then direct its output into a tube that goes down to ground level, through a short tunnel, and into an opening at the bottom of the pyramid. Pump pressure should allow it to fill all the way to the top.

That's a fantastic fortress. Do the fortifications in the tower cap farm actually drain water?

Absolutely - in fact, that's exactly why I built them.
