Goatsea - 107 Early Spring by Kanddak

Map Description:

After turn 6, Syff's second.

Point of Interest: Magma system construction

( 107 Early Spring → 109 Early Spring )

Timeline of magma system:
For all of the following dates, keep in mind that when I talk about events in the year x, they show up in the map for the early spring (1st Granite) of year x+1.
Construction was started by Syff during the year 106. He designed the essentials of the system, and built 26 levels of pumps, 3 levels of aboveground magma storage, 3 levels of subterranean magma storage, and power tunnels + axles from the power plant to the pump tower.
During the year 107, I built 5 more levels of pumps, 5 more levels of aboveground magma storage, dug 7 levels of underground magma storage, and designed/built the power-distribution and intake-pump system.
During the year 108, Habnabit finished construction by building the last 5 levels of the pump tower and 15 levels of aboveground magma storage, clearing the last 3 underground levels, and designing/building the pump-tower-to-magma-storage system.
In the year 109, Syff built the magma control room, linked levers to mechanisms, and did the honors of actually channeling into the magma vent and placing the system online. - Kanddak

That's the smallest "mountain" I've seen. And it's got all the goodies as well. Also, you know you're going to have to do the fort name some justice with that bottomless pit there, don't you? ;)

Yeah, I'm playing it as a succession with my brother and a friend.
The first time we tried to embark, the wagon started right next to the chasm amidst a swarm of batmen. All dwarves were drafted to fight them; three tackled batmen and pulled them down into the chasm, and the others went insane shortly afterwards.
That was also one region tile to the east, where it caught the corner of a giant cave which made this a 6x9 site. This was vetoed for reasons of potential FPS problems, despite the awesomeness of the cave.

Love the giant lava bucket, you must struggle with FPS issues when all those pumps are running :O
