Allright, so we're almost through the first year.
Some migrants arrived, I made an additional stockpile and workshop place, and a barracks.
I got rid of the snailmen, they were no match for my wrestlers.
I also started a small project, called.. Well, it doesn't have a name. In any case, I am flooring a murky pool so that I can build beneath it without flooding anything, I'm not sure if it'll work, but I need the pool floored before either the Giant Eagle that is prowling about in the same place gets my dwarves killed, or the pool refills.
Here's the project, I made my 2 miners carpenters and masons, because the real mason and carpenter are building beds, tables, chairs and doors. The purpose of this project is not to flood anything below when I dig up more workshop and stockpile places. - MetallicLion

I don't think murky pools flood stuff beneath them if you don't remove the floor.

They can gather water during the rains, if not floored. And that can lead to leaks, if they are not sealed.
