Garlicgrass - 204 Early Autumn by Aquilegia

Map Description:

My first and only (at the moment) fortress. The design is quite bad I think to run a fortress efficiently; long walks between stockpiles, not really much utilization of the z-levels, but at least it works and I'm learning : )

Point of Interest: Noble Complex

The noble rooms are located here. Each 'apartment' has a throne room (planned) next to the corridor, one room further a dining room, then a bedroom and last but not least a tomb. Currently only 2 out of the 12 'normal' apartments are inhabited by my major/bookkeeper/manager/broker who lives in the nice detailed 'grand' apartment, and the apartment to the south is inhabited by my newly immigrated dungeonmaster. There isn't really much of interest in there apart from the architecture.. my fortress is still quite poor but in traps, engravings and toy-artifacts.

The two double-size apartments in the north are for a future king/queen+consort if they show up, better to prepare now than to suffer later : )

Currently there are already 77 dwarves in my fortress so more nobles are expected soon-ish and maybe I'm going to appoint a captain of the guard once I have enough bedrooms, the entrances fully trapped and a nice new water-infrastructure for more wells and instant-electrum-item-mandating-noble-disposal.

One z-level up you can see the first planning for the 'water-feature'. I intend to build corridors above the rooms with a single channel-tile above each room (with maybe a grate for role-playing reasons) which link to a big water-reservoir located far up in the fortress to allow for a high water-pressure so these big rooms fill up quickly. Other grates are planned in the noble-rooms themselves linked with corridors 1 z-level down for water-disposal. Floodgates here should be lowered so these corridors fill up quickly so the noble-rooms can flood. To dispose of the water I hope the carve-a-fortification-in-the-edge trick mentioned on the wiki works.

More rooms will be engraved once I have some more good engravers, it just takes too long to engrave everything with masterwork quality with my currently 2 legendary engravers. - Aquilegia

This is actually pretty cool fortress already. :)
You are doing very well if this is your first fortress!

Thanks :) I actually read almost the entire wiki before getting started so that might have helped a bit, but I intend to keep playing with this one until I understand also the late-game so my next fortresses won't fail just after I spend days on some magnificent designs for them : )
