Second reclaim group, first year, mid-winter.
Things were pretty bad for quite a while. Farming was delayed and the dwarves had to resort to an emergency farm. Many dwarves had to resort to hunting verming for food, but noone actually starved.
The aquatic life still continue their deadly stalking. Initially the group had 56 dwarves and at worst they had 48. Two waves of migrants have kept the population up, though.
The lower levels are almost back to functional. More in POI's
This spot right here saved the reclaim group. Initially it was just a tunnel trying to drain the farms below. When it turned out to be a more complicated process, the tunnel was expanded to produce an irrigated spot for farms. - Retales

Wow, this fortress should be epic eventually, assumign you dont die (yet again). How did you get carp in an ocean though? I always embark on oceans but never get anything at all, even on terrifying maps.

It's a freshwater lake. At least most of the carps are in that small pond, maybe all of them. Other fish have killed my dwarves too, or at least made them fall from the smaller bridge (which I've dismantled now)
