Wadedcastles v2 - 208 Early Spring by FunkyWaltDogg

Map Description:

207 was an interesting year, to say the least. I lost another miner in my obsidian farm (bringing the death count there to three), and yet another was mauled by a wolf when she went to retrieve a mortally wounded hunter. Her baby sustained a mangled lower body but managed to crawl away from the wolf to a relatively safe spot, only to lie abandoned and eventually die of dehydration.

I also lost my mayor and her baby when she took some kind of hauling task outside the perimeter (despite having all labors turned off) during a goblin ambush. I managed to forbid whatever she was going for, but even after she started showing 'No Job' she continued to walk straight for the gobbos. I activated her to try and force her to flee but I forgot to turn off "dwarves chase enemies" so that didn't work.

I ended up with several very unhappy dwarves due to the casualties, but no tantrums so far. I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of the elven caravan so that my replacement broker can have a chance to train his appraisal skill, and I can see how much stuff is worth again.

On the plus side, I made a lot of progress on the dining hall as well as building half of the wall ringing the outside of the moat.

Point of Interest: Noble quarters

I didn't do any work on the nobles' tower in 207, other than finishing the floor in the Countess' (now Duchess) rooms. The hammerer is still homeless. - FunkyWaltDogg

I didn't see the point in digging out a lot of area underground to pack stockpiles and workshops into since I'm ultimately going to be constructing buildings on the surface to house all that stuff. So for now, everything pretty much just gets plopped down wherever I've got a space.

Really nice layout and a great seed to have magma so close to the surface. I can't figure out how you get the water up the main building with the housing though. I don't see a pumpstack but I do see pumps at the top.
