Things seem to be going pretty well. I've secured the perimeter and started building weapon traps to defend the main moat crossing. I've also built housing for my dwarves, and successfully tested an extremely cheesy method for generating free power.
On the downside, my initial attempt to tap into the magma pipe was something of a debacle. Fortunately no dwarves were lost, and I have high hopes for the next try.
In my second year I continued the trend of not being able to take full advantage of the dwarven caravan; this time, because a tree had grown up in the path I'd cleared to the depot. So I got on the ball and started on a road. - FunkyWaltDogg
The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.
There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check
the
Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help
me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error
in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is
outside the bounds of the DataView
. Feel free to
report a problem
with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

I didn't see the point in digging out a lot of area underground to pack stockpiles and workshops into since I'm ultimately going to be constructing buildings on the surface to house all that stuff. So for now, everything pretty much just gets plopped down wherever I've got a space.

Really nice layout and a great seed to have magma so close to the surface. I can't figure out how you get the water up the main building with the housing though. I don't see a pumpstack but I do see pumps at the top.
