It's been a while.
1 year has passed, we are now at the pop. cap of 30 dwarfs.
I lost another 2 hunters, both to the giant variety of cats.
My cat traps have not worked, as it appears the roaming giant lions could care less about chained, helpless mules.
The traps did succeed at catching a kobold ambush, which was most likely sent because the damn theives stole 2 giant cave spider booties.
More progress on the fort itself.
As it rains, the water collects in the chamber on the left. After the water reaches an acceptable height (3 water per tile) I pull the lever, and the water falls at a minimal loss into the well chamber below. My dwarfs will then use the actual well to draw water up.
Of course, this is all assuming it will rain again.
There's been no rain for 3 months, maybe spring will bring some. - Salmeuk

It'll be nice when soldiers don't become legendary champions within weeks of recruitment. Then you can go with the old adage "marksdwarf first, hunter second" :X
