Roofdwelling - 221 Mid Autumn by Marko

Map Description:

The construction of Roofdwelling continues. Of major change since last map, the Magma Curtain is up and running, with a few tempting prizes inside to tempt a Kobold or Goblin. Work has also begun on improving the outer walls. Roofing over the bottom half, soon to have towers at each corner, and cover for patrolling archers to use to harass any sieging goblins as they make their way towards the main entrance.

Point of Interest: Magma Curtain Trap

( 221 Mid Autumn → 229 )

This is the magma curtain trap. It works by pumping a continuous stream of magma from a reservoir below, then pouring it through a hole on top, that then falls back into the reservoir. An innocent looking donkey and an artifact coffer lay as bait to lure any Goblins or Kobolds who think about stealing from our city. (Currently offline at the moment to fetch a few bits of iron out from the last victim, you can see it in action here) - Marko

The HTML5 map viewer is currently in Alpha mode - I'm actively trying to develop new functionality.

There should be many very obvious problems with the viewer; please check the Issues page to notify or comment on the most egregious problems to help me prioritise. The most common will be Loading... with an error in the browser developer tools console. e.g. RangeError: Offset is outside the bounds of the DataView. Feel free to report a problem with a link to the problematic map or point of interest.

My good sir, I could not help but to notice you do not have in your possession, an arena.
This is most unfortunate as in my humble opinion, no bastion of dwarven might is truly ever complete without said arena.
If you desire, I would be most honored to assist you in this issue by providing plans for a true Colosseum, so great that it will cast a shadow on any and every might that dare challenge your dwarven superiority!

So send me a pm on the forums.

Why do you have so many engineers? Am I missing something?

Submitted by: Marko - 2009-04-05 to 223 Early Spring

Fear not! An arena is in the plans! Eventually... Roofdwelling wasn't built in a day you know! As for so many engineers, my dwarfs go through a rigorous pump operating regiment to keep them fit and nimble, so many are legendary pump operators, which makes 'em look like engineers.

About the last patch of grass...
I'd think the answer is quite obvious but I'll give you a hint.

This is the greatest fortress I have ever seen. You have got to have had this thing planned out far in advance even by 217 Summer.
