I've managed to find some Limonite during my exploratory mining, so that'll be smelted and converted into steel bars for weapons and armour ASAP.
I've been ambushed by Goblins a few times, and as a result several of my military dwarves (two of whom were Champions) died, and others were badly mangled. Two of the injured dwarves have since made a full recovery, and are back at work, showing the newbies how it's done.
One of my engravers had an eye lopped out during one of the ambushes (I have no idea how that even happened - he should have been engraving the nobles rooms at the time), and he was not a healthy dwarf for a long time afterwards. He would keep losing consciousness during his work, and misplacing his hauled items as a result. In the end he must have passed out while walking over one of my stone-fall traps leading to the trade depot; the poor little bugger was crushed to death instantly. He was eventually buried in the burial receptacles next to the Champions; a fitting place of rest for the little trooper who worked so hard to overcome his handicap, but eventually lost the battle to it.
RIP Obok Sosadiden - Engraver.
RIP Edzul Egomlikot - Champion.
RIP Eral Edemmishos - Champion.
RIP Cerol Rullikot - Wrestler.
RIP Melbil Solonkekim - Hunter.
RIP Zuglar Stigazezum - Hunter.
RIP Thob Shakethdumat - Animal Trainer.
If my well runs dry, a swift pull of this lever will open the floodgate which connects the well to the brook. Once the well is full, this lever must be pulled once more to close the floodgate. If the well room is flooded, then pulling the lever below this one will open the overflow floodgate, allowing the water to spread to a 1/7 depth so that it can evaporate naturally. - WorMzy

This is where the main entrance is. It's not particularly secure, but it will be once I get around to making the bridge/pit combo. - WorMzy

The title says it all really. This sculpture garden is a haven for idle dwarves, and provides them all with happy thoughts. - WorMzy

Ah! Food. Real food. To eat, perchance to taste!
And where better to taste your real authentic Dwarven-made kitten tallow biscuits than in a dining room worthy of the very gods themselves! Unfortunately the food being prepared isn't quite at the same high standard as this room; although the drinks are truly decadent.
Er.. I'm led to understand that this is a good thing. - WorMzy
