Noble Digger, I don't think anyone's ever fallen down them. Maybe you're thinking of nist akath style stairs where it's more circular and there's a channel in the middle?

Dwarves can fall down up/down stairs, but it doesn't really happen outside of combat and sparring.
This fort's gotta be humming like a well oiled machine now, do you have any long-term projects planned?
