Tomeheaven - 81 Early Spring by Razin

Map Description:

Another year, another report to her Majesty, eh? Good to see you old friend. We have much to discuss... keep your voice down, lest those damned nobles notice you haven't grovelled at their feet today, never mind that your just arrived. We have much to talk about regarding your report and...other things.

Point of Interest: The Dungeon, The Dome, and Danger

Be very careful when moving about the valley floor. During the winter, we finished filling the glass tower, and have been deconstructing the magma duct and associated machinery since. There's only been one serious accident during that time, but many have had stones and bit of debris clunk them on the head as they walked below.

Our architects would like me to point out their addition of a domed roof to the downward stairwell. They're very excited about it, something about it making the central tower-structure look more developed, and less like it was built after the stairwell was planned.

We've also added a path to the prison, mostly to make our Guard Captain's treks to his offices less time consuming. Don't look at me like that! Yes, he works for the nobles officially, but he's actually one of ours, and those trips of his are usually whenever he can get away from the Countess to check on prisoners. When we found out the Countess was planning on traveling here, we made sure to appoint one of our more compassionate, well grounded residents Captain of the Guard, rather then let her bring one of their lapdogs to fill the post. So far he's kept most of the guardsmen from shifting their loyalties from the people to the nobles, and succeeded in persuading them to assign prison time rather then beatings when we fail to produce Pig Iron Items, whatever that's supposed to mean. - Razin

Construction is well underway, I'm sure the queen will be pleased with news of its progress. A warning has been issued that staircases built on successive levels can be hazards for dwarves who may slip, or be pushed, from the top; as such my forts employ either a central spiral stair, or a succession of alternating up/down stairs.

Good work defending the hillside, its always challenging trying to close the holes around a mountainhome when your back is against a rolling hillside.

I like the emphasis on diamonds in construction as opposed to the more traditional squares and rectangles. Very cool!

Thanks! I'm not sure what I would do without this particular tile set, the smooth diagonal walls really help open up more design variety.
