Another year, another report to her Majesty, eh? Good to see you old friend. We have much to discuss... keep your voice down, lest those damned nobles notice you haven't grovelled at their feet today, never mind that your just arrived. We have much to talk about regarding your report and...other things.
When the nobles arrived, they naturally demanded that we create a royal guard, and complained endlessly about our fortress guard being too small. After recruiting from among the migrants who were forced to accompany the Baroness and here ilk, we were faced with a crisis of not having enough metal stocked up from goblin attacks to outfit them properly. We began digging mining tunnels below the cistern floor, and got lucky with an early gold and magnetite strike
If you need to escape the greedy loafers, sneaking down to the tunnel and hiding out in the empty gold vein or the magnetite excavation is a great way to buy some time. - Razin

Construction is well underway, I'm sure the queen will be pleased with news of its progress. A warning has been issued that staircases built on successive levels can be hazards for dwarves who may slip, or be pushed, from the top; as such my forts employ either a central spiral stair, or a succession of alternating up/down stairs.
Good work defending the hillside, its always challenging trying to close the holes around a mountainhome when your back is against a rolling hillside.

I like the emphasis on diamonds in construction as opposed to the more traditional squares and rectangles. Very cool!

Thanks! I'm not sure what I would do without this particular tile set, the smooth diagonal walls really help open up more design variety.

Very good writing, I must say!
