Hello again, messenger. You'll be pleased to find that this year's stay will be much more comfortable then your last, and hopefully the good news you shall bring the Queen will keep her from calling on the Hammerer if you forget to shut the door all the way...again. Good to see your arm is healed by the way, the account of the incident the migrants gave us was...painful.
One development that has made our skilled Masons very happy is the completion of our Obsidian factory's mold. Some work still needs to be done to connect the various levers and gears together, and the who machine is still not powered. Still, despite it's small size, the Master Engineer seems quite please with himself. Some safety features have been worked into the design, and should reduce accidents. The control room (in the tower on the north-east corner) has color coded floors to help remind stupid peasants what lever opens which floodgate, and a drain has been installed to dump excess water into a gully between the mountain and the mold. - Razin

Construction is well underway, I'm sure the queen will be pleased with news of its progress. A warning has been issued that staircases built on successive levels can be hazards for dwarves who may slip, or be pushed, from the top; as such my forts employ either a central spiral stair, or a succession of alternating up/down stairs.
Good work defending the hillside, its always challenging trying to close the holes around a mountainhome when your back is against a rolling hillside.

I like the emphasis on diamonds in construction as opposed to the more traditional squares and rectangles. Very cool!

Thanks! I'm not sure what I would do without this particular tile set, the smooth diagonal walls really help open up more design variety.

Very good writing, I must say!
