Axerise - 255 Mid Autumn by Razin

Point of Interest: Power Plant

The Giant Toad that delayed construction was dealt with about a year ago by my Mining duo. Rather, by one of my miners, as the other one ran off to drink, and took the war dogs with him. He sustained only minor wounds, and went back to work right away. This is much better then my original clerk/trader/leader, who shortly after becoming mayor broke his arm (No idea how) and spent his entire term unconscious in his bed. I ended up transferring all his duties to another dwarf, and my citizens wisely decided not to re-elect the pansy.

Anyways, this plant currently provides roughly 1500 power, and uses about 400, as the only thing it's connected to for now is a legendary millstone and a less spiffy backup mill. However, once my military dwarfs get their marksmanship up a bit, I'll clear out the underground river and build a water pumping system, because I need to get a tower cap farm established. My carpenters are quickly deforesting the area around my fort where I can keep my woodcutters fairly safe from bats. When I get around to that, I'll probably expand the plant outwards a bit. - Razin

cool layout, I'd love to see the fort expand upwards half in and half out of the mountain :)

Ahh, ahhh, the microline makes my eyes hurt. Ahhhhh.
Besides that, cool fort, gives a commanding view across the valley. Seems like a good place to build a fort.

Yeah, it's not the most....impressive looking material, but there are pockets of it all over, and there were several times during the construction of the tower were I was running out of other stone types to use. Can't do much about the underground areas, but I'll probably rework the outer tower eventually.

If you wanna change the color, with out ripping your hair out rebuilding everything with a different stone, you can edit it's color tags. (/raw/objects/matgloss_stone_mineral, find the microcline entry and then check out the wiki article on color here: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Color ).

Also, you don't have that many bags. You're going to want more if you ever really start producing glass things on a large scale.

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-02/razin-Axerise-Goldmine-255-24953.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
