Bustsculpted - 318 Early Spring by hactar1

Map Description:

This 18-year-old fortress is the jewel of its civilization, Obok Astel. I've accomplished pretty much everything I could hope for on this map, so I'm retiring it for now. Total created wealth is over 21,000,000, with 2.6 million for weapons, 7.3 million for armor and garb, and over 4 million held or worn. I have 250 dwarves, including 41 champion fighters (mostly guards) and 91 children. 38 artifacts have been created at Bustsculpted, and no dwarf has ever failed a mood.

**Spoiler Alert** I've dug out the Hidden Fun Stuff on this map, so don't go below level 15 or so if that's still a surprise for you.

Point of Interest: 11 - Waterworks

The waterworks of Bustsculpted are a byzantine, over-engineered warren of mechanics, access tunnels, tubes, hatches, and pressure plates. They were built over several years with ever-increasing requirements and continuous design refinements, much like most software.

Water from the underground river is used to pump itself (take that, thermodynamics!) up to the entry level of the fortress, where most of it is pumped via windmill into the moat, and some is used to keep the well fresh.

The well is kept at a 5/7 water level, with the excess draining down through a series of pipes and eventually into the outside stream. Yes, I did add a settling tank to the design... I mentioned over-engineered, didn't I?

The moat water flushes two toilets previously mentioned, and supplies an artificial stream flowing across the valley in front of the fortress, which also feeds the outside stream. - hactar1

You can download the compressed map file: 2009-01/hactar1-Bustsculpted-region1-318-1853.fdf-map but you will need the .NET version of SL's DF Map Compressor to convert to the .PNG image format.
