Map Description:

My first upload to the archive. This fortress features a hammer-shaped Founders' Hall, with the (deceased) expedition leader entombed in the head of the hammer. The forge area down below will soon be anvil-shaped.

Point of Interest: Dragon monument #1

On this site in the year 203, my sharpshooter squad The Round Lenses slayed their first dragon. This was my first ever megabeast in DF, and I was incredibly lucky to get the drawbridge up.

The commemorative statue is masterwork copper, and the off-color tile to the west is a smoothed and engraved boulder. I had really hoped to get an engraving about the dragon on that boulder, but no such luck. - Jurph

Thanks! The two north-south wings flanking the hammer are going to be capped off with magma pools to make them look like torches. The magma pools will have the added benefit of being usable for glass-making on the next floor up.

I've been playing Dwarf Fortress since the second-to-last 2D version was released, quit briefly after a siege, and started again when the 3D version came out.

Grand efforts... I can see you're used to playing in 2D - the Level 14 shapes might look even better if they spanned a few z-levels. Height and depth can be used to great effect.

Δ 16. Dragon monument #2
On this site in the year 205, my sharpshooter squad The Round Lenses slayed their second dragon. By 205 I had plenty of iron bolts and the curtain wall was much more substantial, so they sat in the northwest tower. The squad leader managed to pierce both lungs and the heart with one shot.

The commemorative statue is masterwork native gold, and the plaza is alunite blocks. - Jurph
Δ 16. Mill house
This is where I grow whip vines and longland grass for milling into flour. If you look in the basement you'll see a little booze cellar. Also, I use the roof for drying goblin corpses. I'm considering turning the garden wall into fortifications to make it look more like a wooden fence. - Jurph
Δ 15. The Kitchens
I'm really proud of this kitchen layout. Every workshop is adjacent to the stockpiles that feed it, so that empty barrels are never more than a few tiles away.

The northwest farm grows barrel plants: sweet pods for syrup and all other plants to booze. The southeast grows bag plants: quarry bush, pig tail, and cave wheat.

The powder and syrup ingredients for meals end up working their way towards the kitchens from the farm as an assembly line, and none of it is more than a short hauler trip to the Trade Depot. - Jurph
Δ 14. Dining Room
My child laborers have been busy smoothing and engraving elsewhere, but their first big project was smoothing out this abstract shape. I made room for 10 banquet tables of 12 seats each, and so far every seat in the house is either masterwork or exceptional.

¶ 14. Founder's Hall
This level is the main living space, and was some of the first stone that was dug here. The hammer-shaped hall has six bedrooms along the handle, then six mausoleums that are reserved for the six surviving Founders. The head of the hammer was reserved for our late expedition leader, who tried to sneak outside to reload a trap during our second siege. - Jurph
Δ 13. Chess Set
Masterwork furniture and sculptures set up in the now-classic chessboard setup inspired by Copperblazes. Theoretically I could assign each of the tables an owner, but they'd just leave turtle shells all over it. - Jurph
Δ 13. Dorms
Two extensive copper veins made keeping the pattern a nightmare. I've just finished putting in basalt-block walls. I have way too few bedrooms, so the next big effort is ensuring adequate housing. The dorms will stay south of the main E/W hallway and the workshops will be a good distance to the north. - Jurph
