Ghostclasped - 1071 Mid Spring by Remliel

Map Description:

Another short-lived Goblin siege ended up burning on contact, as did another group of Elves who were too good to use the huge, wide, well-marked road to get to my depot. Man, I love this moat. BURN, PRISSY ELF TREEHUGGERS! MUAAAAHHAHAHA!

On a sad note, I miscalculated greatly, causing a cavein in my Legendary housing room. No one died, but it DID destroy a masterwork Support, which caused my double-Legendary Mason to flip out. I tried to lock him in a room until he got thirsty, and then let him out so he could drink and get over it, but by then he destroyed enough that he got a Beating... One he didn't survive. A horrible loss.

Point of Interest: Noble Housing Update

It's starting to look pretty nice here. Statues are being installed to up the value. I intend to make all of the rooms Royal value. - Remliel

Wow, very cool sword. I wouldn't have noticed if not for the point of interest which zoomed me out high above the fort. Looks like you've got it all planned out. I've coordened off a large area outside for tree farming, it makes me twinge to have such a narrow patch of ground outside incase of a seige.

I have an underground forest planned that I didn't get around to digging out yet. I'm probably going to regret that soon enough.

And that narrow patch of ground is actually the flood area. The water will drown and keep any additional goblins at bay, and then my siege weapons can pick them off at will. That's the plan, anyway.

You do know that flood water outside doesn't cause drowning? I couldn't decipher in which order you intended to flood the channels, but it looks like you've got a water channel connected to flood that outside patch of ground at the moment.

I never found underground forests cracked up to be much use, I just excavate the area around the river and let trees spring up as I go.

IT DOESN'T? Dang! Well, I'll just have to substitute magma. :D The system IS meant to flood that patch of land. I just didn't know it couldn't drown. At least it can block that area off though. :

And that's a good idea. I'll start mass-excavating the cave river area and let it autoflood me some nice and easy forest. Especially since this map only has trees around the water. :

Dwarves and Humans alike do seem to have trouble walking in outdoor flood water, in the majority of cases that I've seen they've stood around for time and then turned insane/beserk/melachony. Ahahaha.

First of all, your fortress looks awesome so far...

...but please, for the love of god, toggle your engravings off. It looks terrible.

At the very least toggle it off floors.

Looks great! Neat job with the outside moat, and I really like what you've done with the chasm - blocking off all entrances and trapping the sole exit... something I think I'll emulate in my fort...
